The Wall is Donald Trump’s albatross around his neck. The Wall is the symbol of the Donald Trump administration. The Wall will define the Donald Trump administration now, and for many years to come. Donald Trump knows this. Look closely at the telephone call transcript between Enrique Peña Nieto and Trump recently leaked to the public and you see how Trump fears that his base might realize they were duped. Donald Trump clearly hopes that his base doesn’t comprehend two realities.

The first reality is that México will never pay for the wall. The second reality is that Donald Trump clearly understands that The Wall is his defining moment. But Trump doesn’t seem to understand one undeniable fact, the “big beautiful wall” will never be built.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, there will be lots of propaganda about how the Trump Administration is protecting the country from the “bad hombres” and how Trump is keeping his promise of a “beautiful wall” by reinforcing existing fences and adding missing pieces here and there. Oh, there will be oral spasms of “technology” walls. All of that interspersed with dubious “statistics” of declining apprehensions of undocumented immigrants.

All of that will be the result of a well-oiled propaganda machine that Trump has cultivated for decades.

What will be hidden deep behind layers of propaganda is that The Wall will never be built as promised. What is worse is that the taxpayers of the country will pay billions for fanciful fantasies of a wall that will do nothing to protect the country.

Trump will try and try. He’ll risk alienating the Republicans further and empowering the Democrats with threats of government shutdowns. Trump may even negotiate a few billion here and a billion there for “border security” and trumpet up success, but in the end, Donald Trump and everyone else will know that The Wall will not be built.

Trump’s wall is of his own making. It is the albatross that will dog his administration well beyond the point where his administration will be no more. Trump and surrogates will cry and complain. They’ll blame obstructionists and even a Mexican here and there. But what they’ll be fearing the whole time is that the truth comes out leaving the Trump administration bared for all to see how Donald Trump is nothing more than a fraud.

Donald Trump knows this reality and is hoping that his base is too stupid to realize it. They may very well be.
