The Donald Trump apologists have been circling the wagons around the notion that the left and the Democrats have launched a sustained attack on the Donald Trump presidency through corrupt news media and fake news. Any piece of factual information is distorted, misdirected or outright lied about with the blame shifted away from Trump. You can see this on my blog’s comment section. Each time I post a focused argument, the facts are ignored and instead the comments are used to misdirect towards a false narrative.

On March 7, former national security advisor and long-term Donald Trump supporter Michael Flynn formerly registered with the Justice Department as a foreign agent working for Turkey’s interests. He was paid over half-a-million dollars working for Turkey while he was advising Donald Trump on international affairs. Flynn was fired by Trump shortly after it was revealed that Flynn had lied to Mike Pence about meetings with the Russians. The Donald Trump-Russian connection has been simmering ever since Trump took office with each new day bringing more information to light.

As for Flynn, this is the second time he has been fired by a president. First Barack Obama fired him for incompetence and Trump fired him for misinforming Pence about his meetings with Russian officials. Clearly there is something wrong with Flynn.

However, when questions about Flynn were first raised, Trump defended him by arguing that Flynn “was just doing his job.” The problem is that Flynn was also being paid to project the interests of a foreign country, Turkey.

Let that sink for a moment, Michael T. Flynn was working for a foreign government while advising the incoming president on national security matters.

I realize that Trump defenders are going to argue that Trump fired him or that Trump couldn’t be held accountable for an underling lying to him. Some will even argue that registering as a foreign agent does not mean that Flynn was working for the interests of a foreign government. They’ll argue that the registration is mere formality that means nothing.

Of course, had this been about an Obama confident the Trump supporters would be all over it as an example of why Obama was bad for the country.

Donald Trump surrogates conveniently ignore the hypocrisy of their defense of their champion and instead champion a double standard – but Obama did it as well or it’s not the same because Trump is almighty.

It is the epitome of hypocrisy.

But, let us not forget the most important fact that cannot be ignored – Donald Trump was influenced on national security matters by a foreign agent – Michael Flynn.

That, right there, is the most serious issue that Donald Trump supporters would rather not discuss.

  1. Trump fired him. Nothing in his actions in the first 50 days shows any preferential treatment for Turkey or Russia. Why not explore the Clinton Foundation’s sudden drop in foreign donations. I find that much more of smoking gun, particularly since Clinton made a pretty favorable uranium deal to Russia.

  2. I have heard this before” Oh…The Russians are coming” !!!
