Borrowing from Google’s Alphabet I have added a new way to get to my blog. I have also incorporated the Alphabet concept so that I can easier answer the question; exactly what do I do. I also want to take this opportunity to introduce to you a new feature for my blog.

First, I have registered and linked the domain name epn.xyz to give me, and you a quicker way to get to the blog. The top-level domain (TLD) xyz is an interesting concept that had not really cemented itself until Google decided to use the abc.xyz domain name for its Alphabet holding company.

Although some of the technology pundits are arguing that dot XYZ is the new dot COM, I am not entirely convinced. Although I must admit, that Google has given it a strong opportunity. Using epn.xyz is easier on my fingers to get to my blog. However, the elpasonews.org is still the brand and the primary way to get to my blog.

Additionally, I am routinely asked exactly what is it that I do. I constantly wrestle with the answer because I am constantly launching new projects. Like Google, I am working on many diverse projects, albeit, on a much smaller scale. So many of them, that I usually forget that I already have a project on a specific issue.

As a result, I needed a centralized location from where to reach my many projects.

Using Google’s idea for Alphabet, I created a link page under paredes.xyz for links to my various projects. As I launch new projects, I will add the links to them there.

In answer on the question of what is it that I do, the best answer I have been able to come up with is that I create digital content.

Digital content encompasses words, graphics, photography and programming.

Video is the latest content channel that I started working on.

As some of you know, I have neither the face for television nor the voice for radio, yet I needed to create videos for my blog. Since I cannot afford to hire a narrator, I decided to create a virtual one.

Meet Robo-Pepe, an avatar I created that is going to help me narrate some videos about immigration and politics that I am working on. Take a moment to view Robo-Pepe in action in the following two-minute video, which coincidently answers another routine question, what is my blog about.

One of the projects I am going to be launching in the next few weeks is documentary-style videos with Robo-Pepe as the narrator. The avatar will be the host of the series that is going to be called the Proteus Files. Proteus, in Greek mythology, is a slippery guy who can help you predict the future but only if you can catch him. I am hoping that along with my writing I can give you more content that is more interesting to many of you.

I also want to take an opportunity to thank the individuals that comment on my blog. Some of you contribute greatly to the public discussion through your well-reasoned and detailed comments. Some of your comments can stand alone as blogs themselves. It gratifies me greatly that you take the time to offer your opinion on my blog.

I look forward to your comments and especially your continued support of my commentary through its different channels.

As always, I appreciate your visits to my blog.

  1. You’re doing good work Martin.
I always look forward to your well reasoned accounts of what is going on in El Paso and the nation.

  2. I must admit Martin, you have put a lot of effort and thought into helping the community through your blog, and this makes it even more effective and easier to absorb your material. However, the robotic voice as a narrator may be too monotone and many would lose focus on what is said. Just saying. Maybe a volunteer would want to report what is being written. Just an idea.
