Earlier today, the third sitting city representative filed to run for mayor. Isabel Salcido, who is in her second term as the city representative, just filed to run for mayor. Salcido joins Cassandra Hernandez and Brian Kennedy in an already crowded filed of candidate for mayor in the upcoming November elections. The three city representatives join Jacob Chavira, Antonio Marco Contreras, Elizabeth Cordova, Roberto Ryan Houle, Renard Johnson and Steven Winters.
According to the city Clerk’s office, Salcido filed her paperwork 1:12 pm this afternoon.
In 2022, Salcido faced two opponents, Richard Genera and Feliz Muñoz. In the November 8, 2022 election, Salcido kept her seat with 64% of the vote in the three-way race.
Oscar Leeser is termed out and cannot run to keep his seat.
Monday is the last day to file to run for a municipal seat in the November 5, ballot. City offices are closed on Friday, leaving today and Monday as the last day to file for the open city council seats.
