The latest campaign finance reports were due on Monday. As we reported, Vince Perez has raised the most campaign contributions for the District 77 House of Representatives seat. Including the latest campaign finance reports, Perez has raised $59,728.26. Norma Chávez, at $37,440 in campaign contributions, has slightly overtaken Alexsandra Annello who dropped to third place in raising campaign contributions at $33,672. Homer Reza continues to trail with $6,010 in campaign contributions.
In campaign expenditures, Perez leads with $58,034.49 in campaign expenses through January 25, 2024. Chávez, who reported spending $19,898.61, out spent Annello’s $17,856.33 in reported expenditures.
Chávez reported having $13,858.51 left in her campaign account leaving her in the campaign financial lead going into the final stretch of the election scheduled for March 5. Perez reported having $11,250.51 left in his campaign account with Annello trailing with $4,050.28.
According to the latest campaign finance reports, Annello’s largest contributors were Oscar Leeser at $2,500 and at $1,000 each were Edward Houghton, Nicole Ittner and Deborah Kastrin. In the latest reports, Chávez’ largest campaign contributors were Citizens for Agricultural Development CAD-PAC with $2,500 and Joe Garcia, a lobbyist with The Garcia Group with $1,000. The consulting form of Eddie Holguin and Lilly Limon also provided $1,500 in-kind consulting services.
Perez’ largest contributors were Richard Zamora with a $2,000 campaign contribution and the Texas Automobile Dealers Association PAC at $1,000.
Homer Reza spent $4,060.59 and raised $4,010 according to the latest campaign finance reports. Reza reported having $2,722.95 left in his campaign account. Reza’s three largest contributions were Tony Reza with $1,000 in two contributions and Elva Reza with $500.

El Paso News Polling Shows Perez In The Lead
El Paso News sampled a small group of frequent voters to gauge who leads in the District 77 contest last week. Our informal poll of El Paso Votes voters shows that Perez maintains a comfortable lead against Annello and Chávez. Both Annello, with a slight lead, and Chávez are in a neck-in-neck fight for a runoff against Perez.

You know I have come to the conclusion why candidate forums are moving to moderators instead of letting citizens ask questions. It’s to protect the candidates from their views being known. I attended the League of Women Voters Candidate forum this weekend at EPCC. They did a great job but they used moderators and did not allow for citizens to question the candidates which I believe to be a mistake.
Things such as Norma Chavez’s history of not filing along with her anti LGBT views should have come out but did not. . Vince Perez wants a State Income tax for Texas and wants to remove the property tax benefits given to Disabled Veterans. Beliefs he should be questioned on.
And BTW where have these two been. Norma and Vince complained about taxes but you do not see them at the County or the City fighting to lower folks tax bills. Lets be frank neither Norma or Vince have been involved locally in any issues that concern the citizens of the City of El Paso or the District they wish to represent at the State level.
