A few weeks ago, I shared with you that I am starting a new phase of my life by starting to explore my ability to work off grid and prove my thesis that creatives are the future the workforce. As you are reading this, we are on our first off grid adventure for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
I am not completely disconnected but my access to the internet and communicating with the outside world is very limited. It is not exactly how my mobile workspace is supposed to be because being connected to the internet is essential to working on my developing mobile workspace. But, baby steps.
I first must take the time to disconnect completely for a time. I’ve been too connected for too long that I’ve lost the ability to understand what an appropriate level is to be connected to remain viably able to work.
The word off grid carries with it many connotations. It can mean to be disconnected from the electrical grid. It is also used to signify being disconnected from the internet and from telephones. What off grid does not mean is being uncomfortable. We have on board electricity through the Jeep and via a Yeti Goal Zero battery. In the summer we will have A/C as well.
For cooking we have a Skottle and a Dometic refrigerator.
Our plan is to be flexible, mobile and comfortable along the way.
To test our set up we decided to go off grid this Thanksgiving week. Hence, my access to the internet is limited.

But do not worry, I’ve pre-written several blog posts that will automatically (hopefully) post each morning. Obviously late-breaking news will have to wait until Monday, December 2.
That is unless Donald Trump suddenly resigns!
You can rest assured that I am not that off the grid that I won’t know Trump has resigned. You can also rest assure that I’ll comment about that.
I will be updating the Border Bandit Jeep website as we travel along on this adventure. I’ll share our experiences with cooking on the skottle, sleeping in our tiny trailer, living out of the house, and what that is like. Look for the updates once I get back next week.
