Criminal Charges:
There are four criminal records listed in the El Paso County public records database. The criminal records were filed on the same date, June 22, 1993. All four of the criminal records use the same first name, “Dolores”, the middle initial, “G”, the last name “Baca” and the same birth date as the candidate, “03/01/1957”.

The candidate told the El Paso Times on April 9, 2016 that she has “never been in court.”

Knowing that Dolores G. Baca previously stated that she was born in El Paso, I conducted a search for individuals with the same name that were born on the same date in the County. There were two individuals listed as born on the same date with the same name.

Absent a much more thorough background check we must accept that the candidate does not have a criminal record.

Narrative:
Dolores Baca previously ran against Larry Romero in 2013. Dolores Baca also ran against Larry Medina in 1999. In 2002, Baca ran against Gilbert Sanchez. After losing her race against Sanchez, on August 1, 2002, Baca filed a lawsuit against Sanchez and Edie Rubalcaba alleging that Sanchez and Rubalcaba violated the Texas Election Code. Baca showed that Rubalcaba misused her county office seal in a letter to voters supporting Sanchez. Dolores Baca was born and raised in El Paso. Baca was also formerly the President of the Water Control and Improvement District in Westway.

  1. Heard her speak. Nice lady. Wants to make El Paso safer. If we believe the press, El Paso is already a super safe city. Wants to make El Paso like Austin or San Francisco. We’ve had enough of that type of vision. Thumbs down.
