cochrane-treyThis morning I received a message through my blog about 11 year-old, Trey E. Cochrane, a 5th grader at Cielo Vista Elementary School who is hosting a Humanitarian Project on May 9, 2015. According the message sent by Cochrane’s grandmother, Kathryn Chacon, Trey become concerned when he learned that only one out of five children eat one meal a day. Additionally, Trey read that the local food banks were low on food. As a result, Trey collaborated with Numana, Inc., a non-profit to host a food-packaging event at his school on May 9, 2015, starting at 10:00 in the morning.

In two hours, along with 200 volunteers, Trey is hoping to package 35,000 “ready to cook” meals to be distributed to the needy. In order to accomplish his goal, Trey needs to raise $10,500. According to the information that was sent to me, Trey has been unable to secure support from corporations, although having filled out “many” applications. As a result, he has decided to fund raise from individuals and smaller companies.

According to the online fund raising site, he has raised about $1,322 as of this morning.

I encourage you to visit the following page by clicking on this link to see a video by Trey Cochrane explaining his plan. The link also includes a link for donating to his cause if you choose to do so. I am also asking you to share this page with your friends and family so more individuals can learn more about Trey’s mission.
