There is a reason I have labeled some political operatives useful idiots. Abeytia exemplifies why they are useful idiots.
As usual, useful idiots like to blame others for their shortcomings. According to the El Paso Times report about Jaime Abeytia’s latest criminal plea he blames the incident on his former wife. According to a quote provided by Aileen Flores, Jaime Abeytia told her “he never hacked into” her email account. This is on the same day he pleaded guilty to “breach of computer security”.
Section 33.02 of the Texas Penal Code states that “a person commits an offense if the person knowingly accesses” a computer or system “without the effective consent of the owner”. Abeytia told Flores that his ex-wife had given him the password so that he could set up her email on a tablet and that is how he saw the emails that “got him in trouble”.
Never mind that in the criminal complaint, his former wife stated that she never gave Jaime Abeytia her password to him. I wonder who is more likely to be telling the truth – the individual that was victimized by him or Jaime who has admitted to prior criminal acts. Hmmm.
Yet, Jaime Abeytia just doesn’t see that he just admitted to accessing his ex-wife’s email account without her permission. However, he isn’t done with his duplicity. He has to drag his daughter into the charade and further excuse his criminal plea. Abeytia insinuates that the only reason he pleaded guilty was that he did not want to “put his youngest daughter through any further pain.”
The problem for Abeytia, and what he hopes people miss, is that this is not the first time Jaime Abeytia pleads guilty to a crime and blames others for it. In 2004, he accepted deferred adjudication for a computer security breach. Obviously, this latest computer breach was not his first time. In the 2004 incident, he was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service and was given six months’ probation. Of course, we are not done yet since I’m writing about a useful idiot.
Rather than learn that criminal activities are bad he appears to be embolden by the slaps of his wrist by the judiciary. On November 5, 2007, he was accused of stealing property from Resumes by Tammy. Again, Jaime isn’t done with crime just yet.
On May 13, 2012, he unlawfully accessed his former wife’s email account without her authorization. According to the police reports, he showed compromising images of his ex-wife to his daughter. So much for not wanting to “put his daughter through further pain”. This is the case to which he pleaded guilty to last Monday.
Of course, you won’t be surprised to know that as of yesterday, October 28, 2014, Jaime Abeytia still has an arrest warrant listed on the Maricopa County’s website for failure to pay child support.
Here is a breakdown of Jaime Abeytia’s extensive criminal record:
- On April 6, 1999, Abeytia is accused of theft of property for writing a bad check.
- On May 21, 2004, Abeytia is accused of computer security breach. [20040C18459]
- On November 7, 2007, Abeytia is accused of theft of property. [07-309141]
- On May 15, 2012, Abeytia was investigated for criminal mischief [12-136025]
- On July 3, 2012, Abeytia was accused of burglary of habitation. [12-185173]
- On September 19, 2012, Abeytia is accused of unlawful access to stored communications.
- On June 4, 2013, Abeytia is indicted on two counts; breach of computer security and displaying harmful material to a minor. [20130C06078]
I guess Jaime Abeytia epitomizes the phrase, once a thug always a thug. Unfortunately, for the El Paso political scene, Jaime’s criminal record will likely keep him unemployed and thus he will continue to be the perfect useful idiot that certain politicians need for their public policy agenda. Useful idiots aren’t only idiots but they come cheap especially when their criminal activities keeps them begging for work.
See whom Jaime Abeytia hangs around in the future and you’ll know exactly whom he is working for when he is unleashed against certain individuals of the community.
