This morning El Paso News received a copy of a petition filed in the 120th District Court asking for the removal of Canutillo Independent School District (CISD) Board Member and board president, Armando Rodriguez. The petition was filed yesterday by Carol Cassady, Anette Brigham and Christopher Stewart. The petition was emailed to us anonymously.

The petition asks that Rodriguez, who is running to keep his board seat, be removed from the CISD board.

The petition alleges that Rodriguez has been arrested “at least three times for Driving While Intoxicated.” The petition alleges that Rodriguez’ attorney, county commissioner Sergio Coronado has attempted “to expunge and clear his [Rodriguez] record so that these records are incredibly difficult to track down.

In April Rodriguez was accused of bullying individuals opposed to Canutillo’s $386 million school bond. An ethics complaint was filed by Sammy Carrejo for placing signs targeting a restaurant opposed to the school bond. According to the complaint, Rodriguez failed to add the required disclosures for political sign.

The bond passed May 4, 2024.

This is a breaking story. Stay with El Paso News for more details as they become available.
