Breaking News – We have an update to a story we brought you on Friday. Norma Chávez was sued this morning for failure to pay one of her vendors for the work they performed for her campaign before Election Day. This morning the vendor filed a lawsuit in small claims court against Chávez for the unpaid invoice.
The lawsuit seeks to force Chávez to pay the outstanding $6,300 owed to the vendor.
Last week Chávez told us she disputed the outstanding invoice. When we interviewed Chávez on Friday she told us she would meet with the vendor today to settle the dispute. However, the vendor has told us that Chávez has repeatedly failed to keep promised meetings to settle the debt.
As a result, the lawsuit was filed in Small Claims Court this morning.
Chávez faces a runoff election against Vince Perez for the House of Representatives District 77 seat in May. The runoff election is scheduled for May 28. Early voting for the runoff is scheduled to begin on May 20 and run through May 24. Election Day is Tuesday May 24.
