The news week started out uneventful, but on Wednesday afternoon the news headlines focused on Cielo Vista Mall after a shooting at the shopping center was reported. Law enforcement converged on the scene immediately. One person are reported dead, two are in custody and three are reported to be injured.
No motive for the shooting has been reported.
Officials said on Thursday that the shooting started after a confrontation between two groups of people aged between 16 and 22 years old escalated. An off-duty police officer working at the mall as security subdued one gunman without firing a shot.
The FBI is assisting police with the investigation.
