Really? What is wrong with Americans? The Centers for Disease Control issued a “formal warning” about the dangers of drinking hand sanitizer. You read that right, the CDC, tasked with protecting Americans from bad drugs, was forced to tell Americans not to drink hand sanitizer after four people had died and another dozen were poisoned by consuming hand sanitizer.
According to the New York Times, “from May to June 30, 15 people in Arizona and New Mexico were treated for poisoning after they swallowed alcohol-based hand sanitizer.”
These are not children. These are adults.
One would think that Americans would be better educated than that.
But apparently not.
In April, during a press conference, Donald Trump suggested that injecting a disinfectant would kill the Coronavirus.
At least one individual in Kansas drank disinfected because “of the advice” he had received. Several community poisoned control centers reported an increase in reports about how to properly use cleaning solutions shortly after Trump made his suggestion.
Although masks have proven to be effective in dealing with the pandemic, Donald Trump has refused to enforce the use of masks as an effective solution to Covid-19.
Yesterday, both Facebook and Twitter blocked Donald Trump’s posts about children being immune to the virus.
It is hard to believe that Donald Trump is not the only American incapable of reasonable thought about issues involving the health of Americans. But the fact that Americans need to be warned not to consume hand-sanitizer betrays a larger problem. One that shows that many Americans lack the skills necessary to navigate in an adult world.
