Readers constantly ask me to write more about the ongoing controversies in El Paso. Others ask me to bring back the El Paso Forum. Some of you just want me to go away. The fact is that I moved away from El Paso almost ten years ago. And, as I have written before, I am glad I did.

The reasons I am glad are numerous, some personal and others having to do with the ongoing de-Mexicanization of El Paso and the stifling tax situation in the city.

But I still have friends in El Paso and the ongoing corruption and high taxes affects them. They are my friends and it hurts to hear them tell me the latest problems and oppressive taxation.

After talking to a few friends asking that I write more El Paso issues I decided to do something else.

Bring back the El Paso News!

I do not have the energy to write about El Paso, but others do. So I enlisted a few friends to help me give a voice to the silent ones. With the resurgence of El Paso News, we are hoping to have a place for anyone to express themselves without censorship or approval processes that stifle the ability to be expressive.

As with everything there will those that want to troll or attack others for their viewpoints. But what is trolling or attacking is a slippery slope. Like everyone else, I have biases, and those biases sometimes intervene unfairly to others.

To avoid being the sole arbitrator of what is acceptable and what is not, I have decided to recruit a three-member moderator group from diverse backgrounds to rule if something is acceptable or not.

The three of us will vote on a post or a comment that is brought to our attention as needing action. When two- or more agree on what to do, then we proceed with the ruling made by the group.

That way, not one individual decides what is acceptable and what is not.

I will announce on the site who the three moderators are in short order.

Why is this important?

Because we want a place where anyone one can be an author or a creator (the site accepts podcasts and other media) without having to deal with a gatekeeper to publish their works.

All authors can publish directly to the site whenever they want to. There is no requirement to submit and wait for approval from the powers-that-be. You, as the author, are the dictator of your works.

The rules are simple. Do not defame or attack someone simply to create chaos or attack an individual. If you have the facts then post them. If it is an editorial (personal opinion) then remember that the three moderators may decide that your post needs to be fixed. Do not promote anything illegal under U.S. Federal Law. After all, I am an immigrant and I do not need Donald Trump to send his goon squads after me. Finally, the site will not be the place to sell products nor services.

Other than that, it is a free-for-all. If it matters and you care enough to write about it, create a podcast or post a multimedia post, then by all means go for it!

How do you become an author? Simple contact me and let me know. All I need is your email address. I do not want to know what you are going to write about, even if you love Donald Trump. All I care about is that you want to share your words or ideas in whatever format you wish.

There is already a willing group of authors. Find out who they are and what they want to share with you by visiting the site now.
