Unless you filter out politics completely from your life, which wouldn’t make any sense since you are reading my blog today, you know that Attorney General William Barr sent Congress a letter summarizing the findings of the Mueller Report. The four-page letter offers all sides little nuggets of victory.

But the letter is usual American politics.

Why is it American politics as usual?

America has been consumed for about two years wondering whether Donald Trump is a crook or not.

The preliminary report does not answer that question.

Instead, Barr’s report says that in the matter of “Russian Interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election,” the Special Counsel found that Russia did interfere in the election through two activities. The first was a disinformation campaign centered around the Internet Research Agency, a Russian company. The second effort was the computer hacking that resulted in the Hillary Clinton and other DNC data dumps. The Special Counsel charged the individuals involved in the Russian Interference program.

However, the Special Counsel, according to Barr’s preliminary, report did not find that any Americans, including Trump Campaign members, did not actively help Russia in its efforts.

Barr’s report to Congress adds that the Special Investigator provided Attorney General Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein with the evidence it cataloged on whether Donald Trump obstructed justice in several instances. However, the decision to charge Donald Trump with obstruction of justice charges was left to Barr and Rosenstein.

Barr’s letter states that it was Barr and Rosenstein who made the determination not to charge Trump with obstruction of justice.

Barr’s letter argues that the determination not to charge Donald Trump with obstruction was based on the Special Counsel not finding any collusion between Trump and Russia, thus there was no reason for Donald Trump to obstruct an investigation looking into Russian collusion with Trump. The letter argues that Trump’s actions were also done in public, further arguing that Trump was not attempting to obstruct the investigation into Russian collusion.

However, Barr’s letter also states that the Special Counsel specifically added that his report “does not exonerate” Donald Trump.

On one hand, Donald Trump and cohorts are proclaiming victory going so far as to say that Donald Trump was “exonerated.”

Donald Trump was not “exonerated.”

However, Donald Trump was not charged with any crime as the result of the Special Counsel investigation leaving in limbo those looking for impeachment proceedings to start.

The Mueller Investigation is over, but Americans still do not have a clear understanding of whether Trump is a crook or not.

The Mueller Investigation may not have charged Donald Trump, but Barr’s letter makes it clear that the Mueller probe spun off several other investigations to other prosecutors leaving unanswered if any of those include Donald Trump and/or his immediate family.

Barr writes that he is looking to release the Mueller Report after redacting legally required information and other information deemed by his office and others as not releasable.

How soon that will happen will depend on the attorney general.

One reply on “The Politics of the Mueller Letter”

  1. So the Inquisitor has packed up and gone home. The only evidence of collusion remains “trust us” and “it’s classified”.

Leave it to the Ds to forget history and chase some version or other of the “Russians are coming”. They just couldn’t accept that She-Who-Had-to-be-President lost.

Had the Ds only read “Shattered” and/or listened to the authors as they promoted their book and blacked-out the hysterics of the MSNBC hyenas, they would be in a better position. Now we’re all f****d! The Inquisition fortified the Lunatic, the Rs, and fellow-travelers; we (who don’t support their agenda/policies) will pay dearly for it.

Sí que les salió el tiro por la culata!

As for the Russian influencing/interfering in our elections/our “democracy” and such, please, this is how the game is played. The US is the master interferer in others’ governments; hell it destroys whole countries to remove their governments. Remember Libya? It’s now a ‘failed state’ where the sale of human beings is rampant, or so I’ve read. Y la Cackles got to produce her own snuff flick.
