In yesterday’s post we looked at Marco Antonio de la Garza who worked as a Border Patrol Agent while being an undocumented immigrant. His case demonstrates how broken the immigration process is in America. But, what about the other Border Patrol agents? If the system allowed an undocumented immigrant to work deporting other undocumented immigrants what does that say about the other agents working immigration?
In March, Juan Fernando Barajas, a Border Patrol agent, pleaded guilty for government theft. Barajas stole 13 government fuel cards to fuel up his Mercedes Benz. Barajas worked for the Border Patrol for about 14 years before being caught stealing the fuel cards.
But hold on, there are many more Border Patrol criminals.
Kanit Kunnaragthai was found guilty in June 2018 on three felony counts of making false statements to the federal government. Kunnaragthai was sentenced to one year and six months in federal prison for his crimes. Kunnaraghthai lied about living in a HUD funded house in return for a 50% discount on the house offered to federal employees. He was a Border Patrol agent.
Juan David Ortiz, another Border Patrol agent is facing the death penalty for killing four women. Ortiz, who worked at the Border Patrol for ten years, drove the four women to a remote part of the desert and executed them with a gunshot to the head, according to court documents. Ortiz also admitted to investigators that he killed the women.
In another case from this year, Manuel Porras Salas, a 25-year veteran of the Border Patrol was convicted this month of trafficking drugs. He, and his wife, are expected to be sentenced on April 15.
Christopher Holbrook, another Border Patrol agent will spend one year plus one day in jail for lying to federal investigators. Holbrook pleaded guilty to assaulting someone in his custody in Las Cruces.
Earlier this month, Border Patrol Agent, Gustavo Edwardo Rodriguez was arrested in South Padre Island for assault.
In September, another Border Patrol Agent, Ramon Antonio Monreal-Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to lie about guns he purchased. The Arizona native has been with the Border Patrol for ten years.
Oh, but we have more. Border Patrol agent Garrett McMahan was arrested for sending pictures of his private parts to an individual he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. Jason Christopher Davis was arrested on May 2018 for inappropriately video taping a five-year-old girl. Several other instances of child pornography were found on Davis’ devices. Davis is also a Border Patrol agent.
These cases are a few cases from 2018.
From 2016 to 2017, “more than 500 employees” [emphasis mine] of the Border Patrol were charged with drug trafficking, bribery and several other crimes according to the most recent Border Patrol report detailing crimes within its ranks.
The record is clear that the agency tasked with interdicting undocumented immigrants not only harbors criminals but seemingly supports them by the fact that many are long-term agents before their criminality is exposed publicly.

These are bad apples within an administrative criminal and immoral system.
I wonder if US courts will be as generous to the families of Felipe Gomez Alonzo and Jakelin Caal as they were to the family of that US citizen who was imprisoned by N. Korea. What about the other victims of the Children’s Guantanamo camps? I hear tell that these camps are especially attractive to a certain type of abuser.
We are a country of laws, Mexico is “worser”, why does everyone want to come to US? Such are the usual defense lines from an indignant Amerik³a when criticized for its atrocities as it buries its head en un profundo somewhere.
