Russian collusion. Obstruction of justice. Lying to Congress. Illegal campaign contributions. These are the crimes alleged against Donald Trump. These are the things that different pundits argue will cause Donald Trump to be impeached. We know much but we don’t know all the details. But we do know Donald Trump is closer to impeachment than ever before.
If you subscribe to Donald Trump’s narrative or believe FoxNews offers the best analysis than you likely believe that the Special Counsel’s investigation does not lead to impeachment or that the whole thing is a great scheme to deprive the American people of its duly elected president.
If you believe in CNN or MSNBC than you likely believe that it is only a matter of time before Congress impeaches Trump.
It is obvious that the country is divided.
What we do know is that Donald Trump is a serial liar. FoxNews and Trump cohorts call it hyperbole and the rest of us call it lying. We also know that Trump has a problem with immigrants and the immigration system. Some in the country agree with Trump on this. We also know that Donald Trump is a womanizer – an adulterer. We also know that Donald Trump has disparaged women.
We know these things although some try to argue it as private family issue that does not matter for public policy. Others argue that they knew this about Trump before he was elected, and still voted for him.
All the controversy has pundits asking whether Trump will be impeached. Some even argue that Trump will not get to the end of his first term.
Through all the noise I am starting to believe that Russia will not be Trump’s downfall.
In my view, it will be Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels who will be the reason Donald Trump is drummed out of office. And, in me view, it is the perfect reason that Trump is humiliated out of office because of the disparaging things Trump has said about many women.
It will be two women that allege to have had intimate sexual contact with Donald Trump. Trump has denied it, although we now know he paid hush money to keep the information out of the public eye.
I may be old-fashioned, but I believe no man should ever put hands on a woman and all men must respect women as they should respect their mothers. Trump has shown no respect for women, including his wife, and thus should be thrown of office by two women he disrespected publicly.
As in the Clinton-Lewinski affair, it does not rise to the level of impeachment. Really, if humping your doxie and paying her to shut up was impeachable, how many politicians would survive? I take you point, Martin, that there is a certain irony in all this.
I don’t want el trompas impeached. I would like that he runs and loses, and then gets charged under RICO with a legal battle that gives him hell here on Earth. I would like that ‘his fortune’ dwindles in this legal battle. Alas, bad things never happen to bad people
Collusion is not a crime. There is the collusion of Reagan/Bushe-the- recently-departed, recently-deified with Iran (which led to the Iran-Contra) and before these two we had Nixon. Go listen to the tapes of an angry Johnson.
