Make no mistake about it, the Republicans are desperate to get Kavanaugh confirmed before the midterm elections in November. That is the driving rush behind the GOP to get the Kavanaugh appointment on the Congressional calendar. This is also the driving force behind the Democrats’ politics, which is to delay as much as possible the vote on Kavanaugh. Lost in all the tribal politics is the truth.
Brett Kavanaugh maintains that none of the accusations are true. Kavanaugh has categorically denied all of them. Obviously the three woman making allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh argue their version is true.
But the politicos have turned this serious matter into a political circus.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans fear a change in who controls the Senate after the midterm elections. Thus, the Republicans are desperate to get another Supreme Court judge before they lose control of the Senate.
The Democrats, for their part, want to delay the vote on Brett Kavanaugh in case they get control of the Senate. Here is where the call for an FBI investigation by the Democrats becomes insidious. An FBI investigation delays the process.
While Brett Kavanaugh remains the nominee, there is no other nominee in the process and as long as the investigation is undergoing there is no vote on the Supreme Court nominee. If the investigation, or investigations take longer than a few days then the vote is delayed until the midterms results are known possibly changing the makeup of Congress.
But the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh remain in place because no one is looking for the truth. Without an investigation by law enforcement there is no search for the truth. Thus, the tribal politics has no interest in the truth.
Keep an eye on the circus today. See how the Democrats will demand an FBI investigation and take steps to delay any vote on Brett Kavanaugh. The Republicans, on the other hand, will do what they can to keep the committee vote scheduled for tomorrow so that they can get their nominee on the way to final confirmation next week.
In the tribal politics there is no interest in the truth, as the truth is just an impediment to individual political agendas.
