The whole Donald Trump presidency is based on a lie. From Trump making political promises that can never be delivered to making lies a daily routine of the White House, the Trump presidency will be defined by lies. The problem is that the Trump supporters don’t care that the whole thing is one big lie. The latest debacle with Stormy Daniels and the $130,000 payment proves this.

Up until yesterday, Donald Trump consistently said he had no knowledge the Stormy Daniels controversy and said he knew nothing about the $130,000 payment to her. Michael Cohen, the long-time personal attorney for Donald Trump, who is currently under FBI investigation, said he paid the $130,000 to protect Trump. Cohen added that Trump knew nothing about it.

But all of it is a lie.

Late Wednesday night, Rudy Giuliani admitted what almost everyone already knew – except maybe the die-hard Trump supporters – that Donald trump knew about and paid the $130,000 hush money to Stormy Daniels. Sean Hannity who learned about this first-hand from Giuliana on his television show, demonstrates that Trump supporters have lost any semblance of analytical thought.

On Thursday morning, Donald Trump, through his normal Twitter routine of rants, admitted that he knew about the $130,000 payment and about the controversy with Stormy Daniels. Trump continuous to deny he had a sexual relationship with the porn star.

What Rudy Giuliani and Trump did was to prove both Michael Cohen and Donald Trump as liars. No matter how much spin anyone tries to put on it, the fact remains that Donald Trump lied about the $130,000 payment.

But, as evidenced by Sean Hannity, the fact that Donald Trump has been caught red-handed in a lie does not seem to matter to the die hard Donald Trump supporters, who either completely ignore it or minimizing it as something people do.

It is obvious that no amount of wrongdoing by Donald Trump will dissuade his followers from supporting him. It seems not to matter to them because they prefer to believe a vast conspiracy of the “deep state” or that anti-Trump supporters are attacking Trump.

Fortunately for sane people, it doesn’t matter what Trump and his cohorts believe or spin because the truth has a nasty way of exposing liars. We now know Trump paid Stormy Daniels to keep quiet. We will soon find out more.

But we also now understand the sudden change in Trump’s legal strategy and can see that his legal team sees the Stormy Daniel debacle as the most immediate legal problem for Trump. Most have noticed that distancing by Trump of Michael Cohen because of the FBI raid on Cohen’s documents.

Although embarrassing, the documents may shed light on a more troublesome legal aspect for Trump, violations of campaign finance laws. There are several laws that attempt to limit the power money plays in elections. These very from federal to state to local municipalities.

Trump’s payment to Stormy Daniels was clearly an attempt to keep detrimental information about Trump from the public during the lead up to the election.

Money was paid to influence the public discussion and thus the outcome of the election.

Whether it rises to the level of violations of the law is yet to be determined.

But, the legally-crafted tweets by Donald Trump and Giuliani’s comments admitting that Cohen and Trump lied shows that Trump sees the issue of campaign finance laws seriously. Now, if only Donald Trump understood that lying to the public is also a serious matter for the voters, the sane ones, that is.
