Forget the notion that those charged with crimes in the United States are “innocent until proven guilty.” I’ve shared many examples, like shackling arrestees while going in front of a magistrate, that demonstrates that those charged with a crime are punitively treated. Shackling someone before they are convicted is punitive so don’t pretend otherwise. Although Cohen has not been charged with a crime, he is nonetheless under an intense federal criminal investigation.
A few days ago, I posted that I believed that Michael Cohen was going to jail.
Wednesday’s late announcement that Michael Cohen will be taking the Fifth in the Stormy Daniel’s case shows that Cohen has finally realized how precarious his situation is. Regardless of the notion that taking the Fifth does not signify criminality, the fact that Cohen has taken it shows that he is concerned about his criminal exposure.
Why would Michael Cohen be worried about his criminal exposure if he hadn’t committed a crime? This is especially truer for an attorney who knows more about the law then your everyday person. There are those that will argue that being a lawyer makes him smart about availing himself of the protections available to him to keep him out of jail.
Herein lies the problem, if a person hasn’t committed a crime then why are they worried about staying out of jail? The notion is that the American jurisprudence is the best in the world. That it is only after the truth? If so, why worry about going to jail if someone hasn’t committed a crime?
More poignant in the Michael Cohen matter is that Cohen availed himself of the court system to silence dissenters, strong-arm people to his, and Trump’s will via threats of legal ramifications, and used the court system to terrorize people.
But it gets worse, the “decades” old Trump confidant is no more in the eyes of his benefactor, Donald Trump. Trump is now distancing himself from Cohen by stating that Cohen handled only a “tiny, tiny fraction” of Trump’s legal matters.
Michael Cohen has been put out to pasture by Donald Trump.
At this point anything can happen – Cohen turns informant against Trump or goes to jail for him. Whatever happens, it is just another example of how dishonest and unethical the president of the United States is.
Trump’s voters believed in the lie that he would Make America Great Again. What they got, instead, is a disaster that is ruining America.
The worst part is that Cohen is just one more, of many, scandals involving criminality surrounding Donald Trump. Trump, the person that promised to “drain the swamp” is surrounded by criminals.
Is this what the Donald Trump voters wanted?
What’s the crime? Trump humps Stormy Daniels who probably has a vagina like the Holland Tunnel from all the tread marks in it and pays her to keep quiet. It’s smarmy, but not illegal unless he actually paid for the sex. Paid for sex is illegal; free sex isn’t.
