Candidate Informational Narrative:
Claudia Ordaz was born and raised in El Paso. She previously worked as the communications director for Eliot Shapleigh and was also the press secretary for Silvestre Reyes. In March 2013, she was named the marketing coordinator for the El Paso Museum of History. She is the incumbent for District 6. She was elected to city council in 2014 to fill the vacancy left by Eddie Holguin. She is in a relationship with Vince Perez and has held at least one official community meeting together with Perez, a county commissioner.

Miguel Fernandez, owner of the building where the El Paso Times is located, contributed $500 to Ordaz’ campaign on March 30, 2015. Fernandez was nominated to the University Medical Center (UMC) board by Vince Perez in late March 2015.
