Witnesses in the contempt trial of El Paso defense attorneys Stuart Leeds and Theresa Caballero Thursday slammed the media, specifically the El Paso Times, alleging the newspaper regularly vilifies the attorneys tainting their reputation in the community.

“It was a concerted effort by the Times. They painted me and Ms. Caballero as criminals. If they get against you, God help you,” said Sam Snoddy, an El Paso attorney who testified on behalf of Caballero and Leeds.

Of the 82 witnesses expected to testify on behalf of attorneys Leeds and Caballero, nearly half have provided testimony describing the newspaper as an active participant rather than an objective observer.. The Times is the newspaper of record for the El Paso region.
