Defense attorneys on Tuesday made a motion asking the magistrate in the Judge Regina Arditti trial for a direct verdict because the state failed to prove their case.
Defense attorney Stuart Leeds argued that the state had not provided any evidence of bribery, abuse of official capacity, and that there was an agreement between Judge Arditti and convicted Judge Manny Barraza.
Visiting Judge Steve Smith is considering the motion, setting an 11 a.m. deadline to return to the bench for a ruling.
