El Paso News has projected the following winners in today’s Primary Runoff Election based on the early voting results. Generally, voters in El Paso vote during the early voting period. If the trend holds through Election Day today, we project the following winners once the polls close.

Texas House District 77

Based on early voting results we predict that Vince Perez will win today’s election for the Texas House District 77 seat.

Because there is no Republican opponent on the November election, today’s winner will take their seat in January.

District Attorney

The early voting results suggest that James Montoya will defeat Alma Trejo for District Attorney on the Democratic Party ticket. However, this race is close and Trejo may overcome her deficit once the ballots cast today are counted.

Today’s winner will go on to compete against Republican incumbent Bill Hicks in the November election.

Sheriff’s Race

Early voting results suggest that the Democratic winner for today’s primary runoff in the sheriff’s race is Oscar Ugarte.

Today’s winner will go on to compete against Republican Minerva Torres in the November election.

The next election is on November 5.
