I know this but apparently, many of his supporters don’t know this.
Last week, it turns out that Donald Trump is acknowledging that he will not keep one of his cornerstone campaign promises – prosecuting Hillary Clinton for her email fiasco and for the Clinton Foundation shenanigans. Trump has stated that he would rather focus on his national priorities rather than to focus on Clinton. Yes, that sounds good, but nonetheless he is breaking a significant campaign promise. I believe this is the first of many campaign promises he will not be able to fulfill, making him just another politician.
Some of you reading this will point out that if Trump breaks his promises you will vote him out of office in four years. The problem is that in his run up to his election, he made promises by dehumanizing immigrants and attacking Mexico.
I cannot let that stand.
Yes, I understand and acknowledge that Democrats, and Republicans always lie to get elected. I fully understand and have pointed out previously that Democrats are worse for immigrants then Republicans. For me, this is not an issue of Democrats versus Republicans but rather, it is an issue of the hateful and dehumanizing rhetoric that Donald Trump used to get into office.
I must abide by the will of the electorate but I do not have to sit back idly and not point out that Donald Trump is no better than the politicians he is supposed to clear out of Washington. As a matter of fact, I have a good dataset of promises that Donald Trump made and I will be gladly be pointing out his hypocrisy as he systematically breaks them.
There is, however, one thing that I need to address. I believe that Donald Trump will not deport the millions of undocumented immigrants he has promised to deport. I also do not believe that he will bring jobs back to the country. But that does not mean that he not will cause considerable pain in his attempts to pretend to keep his promises. For that reason, although I will silently applaud the reality that immigrants are here to stay, I will point out Trump’s hypocrisy on his failure to keep the most basic of his promises.
Some of you will likely argue that since I am getting my way, why dwell on it.
Because Donald Trump cannot be allowed to get away with dehumanizing immigrants or bashing Mexico just to get elected into office.
Therefore, like I like to say; “máscate esa mientras te caliento la próxima” because Donald Trump has just started to break the first of many promises he will break before his administration is over.
The wall is the only promise that really counts. I agree with you on the rest. Time will tell.
