As you likely know, the Senate voted 51 to 49 not to call witnesses in the trial to impeach Donald J. Trump. Two Republicans, voted to call witness, Susan Collins and Mitt Romney. Although there was some intrigue before the vote, the outcome did not surprise anyone. More and more evidence of Trump wrongdoing continues to trickle out each day. More evidence will likely continue to trickle out up until the November elections.

But, the vote to not witnesses betrays the reality that American jurisprudence is a joke.

The defense of Trump boils down to “who cares” it “didn’t rise to removal from office”.

The impeachment trial was nothing more than grandstanding. The House Managers knew they had an uphill battle and so resorted to playing for the cameras. It is hard to blame them as there really wasn’t anything else to do against entrenched party politics. But the playing to the cameras reveals the farce that the trial is.

The Democrats exacted a small victory be delaying the final vote until Wednesday forcing Donald Trump to stew in the impeachment farce and likely forcing him to deliver the State of the Union while under criminal investigation.

But the person that is most at fault for not stepping up when his country called is John Bolton. Bolton tries to pretend to be a patriot, but when his country needed him, he just stood on the sidelines peddling his book.

Nothing stopped John Bolton from publicly saying what he knows about the Ukrainian money debacle.

But he didn’t. He just peddled his book at the expense of the people of America.

The Republicans for their part unequivocally exposed their party politics allegiance over that of their country. So much for the greatness of America.

America has lost the right to tell other countries what Democracy is and how to run their judiciaries.

America is now another failed state where the legal system is nothing but a joke.
