Before Donald Trump stormed into the oval office via a dissatisfied electorate that cares nothing about the repercussions because of their vote, there was BREXIT, Britain’s departure from the European Union. Much like Donald Trump, BREXIT was the product of inward-looking xenophobia by individuals afraid of cultural diversification.

It was the political shenanigans of voter manipulation through online propaganda that delivered BREXIT, and from where Donald Trump learned how to manipulate the electorate via fearmongering. On June 23, 2016, British citizens voted to invoke Article 50 of the European Union Treaty notifying the other members of the union that Britain was leaving the EU. The referendum passed with 51.9% of the vote, not exactly the resounding national support the BREXIT supporters tout. The Article 50 notification was supposed to see Britain out of the EU by March 29. That deadline was recently extended until October 31.

There have been several attempts at Parliament to finalize the exit deal with the EU, but they have been met by heavy resistance by British citizens who do not want to leave the EU. The British headlines are full of the “doomed” failure of the BREXIT movement.

A counter BREXIT movement, a stop BREXIT initiative has been gaining steam in recent months. The failures by Parliament to reach a deal demonstrates that BREXIT is not the done deal that the xenophobes believe it is.

The reason for the failure of delivering BREXIT is that the minority that delivered BREXIT to Britain and Donald Trump to America is now facing a rising and determined majority that sees global trade, global partnerships and cultural diversity as the strength for the future of their countries.

The continued failure of Britain to impose BREXIT bodes bad for Donald Trump in 2020. If BREXIT collapses, it means that sanity has returned to British politics.
