The Democrats are too busy playing party politics to resolve the American crisis. Yesterday, a letter signed by over 400 former federal prosecutors made the point that Donald Trump needs to be investigated for criminal obstruction. But the Democrats, like the Republicans and, of course Donald Trump, are too busy jockeying for the 2020 elections that Trump’s criminality continues.

The Mueller report made it clear that there are several instances of Donald Trump criminally obstructing justice.

There is a debate on whether Trump can be indicted. Donald Trump and most of the Republicans are peddling the false notion that Trump was “exonerated” by Mueller.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are busy strategizing whether the impeachment of Donald Trump will hurt them in the 2020 elections. This party politics thinking poignantly points out how the Democrats argue that “no one is above the law” and that the Trump Administration is impeding Congress’ duty to investigate wrongdoing by the executive while being afraid to do their jobs – impeach Donald Trump.

Either Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats move to start an impeachment proceeding or they just need to shut up and stop pretending they care about America.

The former prosecutors have made it clear that the Mueller report provides enough evidence to investigate Donald Trump for obstructing justice. Trump supporters have argued that obstructions cannot happen without “an underlining crime” pointing out that the Mueller report found no collusion by the Trump Campaign.

The argument of the “underlining crime” is a legal argument that can only be addressed by a court. The problem is that without an impeachment proceeding, the debate over an “underlining” crime is moot. Likewise, is the question of whether Donald Trump criminally obstructed justice can only be answered by a criminal investigation.

That is what an impeachment proceeding is.

As if that isn’t enough, over the weekend, Donald Trump tweeted that he was “owed two years” because of the Mueller investigation. Whether in jest or because Trump really believes that he can be given two years for office on a whim is immaterial because it demonstrates how seriously Donald Trump takes the Constitution. His tweet demonstrates that Trump has no respect of the law of the land.

Today is the first full day that former Donald Trump “fixer,” Michael Cohen will be credited towards his three-year federal prison sentence. His crimes include some that Donald Trump personally was involved in. Whether Cohen is liar, again, is immaterial because a court has sentenced him to jail for crimes, some of which involved Donald Trump.

The over 400 federal prosecutors agree that an investigation is warranted. Cohen is in jail, in part because of Donald Trump. The plain reading of the redacted Mueller report has evidence of obstruction of justice by Donald Trump.

The only thing missing is a backbone within the Democratic Party establishment to do what is right, start a criminal investigation of Donald Trump so that America can put to rest the question of whether Donald Trump is a criminal or not.
