Party politics is rearing its ugly head on the question of Trump’s impeachment with the Democrat leadership toying with the idea that the road to the removal of Donald Trump is via the ballot box. It all sounds democratic and all, but it masks an ugly truth, the Democrats aren’t concern about immigrants they just want power in 2020.
The Republicans, for their part, want the talk of impeachment to go away and have their chance in 2020. Donald Trump, obviously, doesn’t want any impeachment talk.
The thing about impeachment is that impeachment isn’t about the removal of Trump, but rather about exposing the ugly truth. Not all impeachment proceedings end up removing the target. Case in point, Bill Clinton, who finished his term even though he was impeached.
Therefore, the talk about waiting for ballot box is nothing more than a power play by the Democrats and the Republicans.
In the meantime, Donald Trump’s war on immigrants remains raging and the immigrants – legal and undocumented – are suffering, including Spanish speaking or Hispanic-looking U.S. citizens.
Immigrants and brown people in America can’t afford to wait for the 2020 ballot box because the suffering is too real, and now.
Will an impeachment of Donald Trump lead to his removal from office, I hope so, but it isn’t necessary. The impeachment process begins as an investigation. An investigation into the many wrongdoings perpetuated on America by the Trump Administration.
Donald Trump has been successful in hiding his malicious deeds in plain sight by subterfuge and the manipulation of the law. Today, the battle to get Trump’s tax returns rages on with the argument that Congress has no right to them, even though the plain language of the law is clear.
Any impeachment proceeding against Donald Trump will only expose him to the public, even his die hard supporters would have to think twice about their support once the malfeasance is documented publicly.
So what if the result isn’t the removal of Donald Trump?
It is the exposure of facts that will end Donald Trump, either through the ballot box in 2020 or his removal from office.
America needs an impeachment to begin. Immigrants can’t wait for sanity to return to America in 2020.
