In February, Texas Senator Charles Schwertner was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Schwertner refused to take a breathalyzer test. The Texas Tribune has been tracking the story since Schwertner’s arrest. Soon after Schwertner’s arrest, rumors began to circulate that Claudia Ordaz was in the car when Schwertner was arrested. However, it could not be proven until now.
The Texas Tribune obtained a copy of the arrest video through the Texas Public Information Act and released it yesterday.
Although Schwertner was arrested and charged with DWI, the Travis County Attorney, Delilah Garza, dropped the charge stating that there was not enough evidence to proceed forward, according to the Tribune.

The Current Revolt, on online publication on Substack that focuses on Texas politics has been alleging since Schwertner’s arrest that Claudia Ordaz has a romantic relationship with Schwertner. Schwertner’s wife, according to The Dallas Morning News, filed for divorce from Schwertner in January 30, 2019. According to the divorce documents, Schwertner was accused of sending sexually explicit pictures to a college student at the University of Texas in 2018.
