The University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) issued a press release today addressing the allegations made by a traveling nurse about her experiences at UMC. According to the UMC Press Release, the social media viral video by the traveling nurse caused the Texas Health and Human Services to initiate an unannounced inspection of UMC.
According to UMC, the HHS investigation found the allegations by the nurse as unsubstantiated. UMC noted that no violations were found.
The Pit
According to the UMC release, the pit described by the nurse, is an open bay area where COVID-19 patients “are receiving an elevated level of care.” [emphasis in original]
UMC added in the press release that visiting nurses will be “made aware of the full operations of the units to which they are assigned.”
