Yesterday, U.S. Representative Jerry Nadler (NY-D) formally announced at 9:10 am (Eastern time) that the House of Representatives will hold a vote on two articles of impeachment against Donald J. Trump. Only two U.S. presidents have been formally impeached by the House of Representatives. If the House of Representatives approves the two articles of impeachment on an upcoming vote, Donald J. Trump would become the third president to be impeached.

The two proposed articles of impeachment are: 1. Abuse of power, and 2. Obstruction of Congress.

It is likely most readers know where the two articles of impeachment stem from, so I won’t bore you with the details.

However, it is important that two things be pointed out.

1. Donald J. Trump will forever carry the stigma of being impeached by the House of Representatives, especially considering that Trump will be impeached on his first term. Every time the Trump presidency is discussed, the word “impeachment” will be part of the conversation.

2. Impeachment is reserved for the most egregious criminal activity. No amount of spin will make the stain of criminally corrupt Donald Trump go away.

Whether Trump is removed from office is immaterial. As a Mexican citizen who Trump labelled a “rapist,” it gives me a little satisfaction that many now believe Donald Trump is a corrupt person, meaning that anything he says is stained with the knowledge that corruption drives him.
