When I first created the poster, Donald Trump’s Deportation Force in 2015 many individuals criticized it as an exaggeration. Although some saw Trump’s hatred of immigrants worrisome they nonetheless felt that America would push back. To equate the Border Patrol as a Deportation Force they argued was too much.

Fast forward to today and the situation is much worse. The Border Patrol is no longer a police force enforcing laws. The Border Patrol has evolved into Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant shock troops. Shock troops are tasked with overcoming substantial obstacles to achieve their goal. They are trained to focus on deliverability of mission goals at whatever cost.

To accomplish difficult missions, shock troops are trained to ignore the humanity of their targets to facilitate their mission. Donald Trump has turned the Border Patrol into his Deportation Force to, the spear of Trump’s war upon immigrants – documented and undocumented.

There are readers who believe this is an exaggeration. Those readers need to look at the recent revelations of at least two Border Patrol Facebook accounts where not only are immigrants dehumanized but so are the lawmakers standing against Donald Trump war on immigrants.

The secret Facebook Border Patrol groups demonstrate a culture of dehumanizing immigrants.

For shock troops to be effective they must fight a demonized enemy. Shock troops cannot have empathy for those they target. It is the dehumanizing of immigrants that has turned the Border Patrol into Trump’s Deportation Force.

As such my poster was a vision of today. It is the vision that immigrants – such as myself – feel each time we encounter a Border Patrol agent.
