Donald Trump’s base continues to focus on the Trump’s promise to build the wall. Donald Trump is feeling a lot of pressure to convince his voting base that he will build the promised wall. The inconvenient truth is that the wall will not be built. Reluctantly, many of Trump’s voters seem to have acknowledged that México will not be paying for the wall, but the fantasy that the wall will be built continues as part of the narrative.

As we get closer to the midterm’s elections, the base is forcing Trump to get creative about the wall. Trump has floated the idea that he will force a government shutdown. But the GOP has rightly pointed out to Trump that a government shutdown over the wall would be disastrous to the Republicans in their quest to keep control over Congress in November.

As Woodward’s book and the anonymous letter to the New York Times pointed out, there are many that believe that Donald Trump is irrational at best and completely crazy at worst. As such, it is difficult to know how Trump will react as the budget negotiations continue. But, if the GOP prevails, they’ll convince Trump that he can wait until after the November elections to see funding for his wall.

The fact is that if funding has yet to be delivered by a GOP-controlled Congress it is likely the wall will remain unfunded after November.

But none of that has not stopped Donald Trump from lying to his base about the wall.

In recent campaign rallies, Trump has lied about the funding for the wall. Trump has lied about the building of the wall.

Trump has told his followers that the U.S. government has spent $3.2 billion on the wall.

The facts, though, show a different reality all together.

Only 14 miles of the wall has been worked on in California and another 20 miles in Santa Teresa, New Mexico through a $341 million appropriation from Congress.

Congress approved $1.6 billion to fund repairs of the existing fence along the border as well as other security projects. No money has been allocated to the Trump border wall.

As a serial liar, Donald Trump sees no problem with lying to his voters. When confronted with facts about the lack of money for the wall, Donald Trump resorts to another lie, blaming the Democrats for the lack of funding.

Just to be crystal clear, México will not be paying for the pinche wall!
