The House Republicans released the Homeland Security funding bill on Tuesday. In it there are $1.6 Billion to fund the U.S.-México border wall. This is only the initial amount requested by the Trump administration. The total appropriations bill is for $44.3 billion. The wall portion accounts for less than one percent. However, the proposed amount may cause the Democrats to block the bill. But the optics of the wall will lead the fight for the appropriation.

The Democrats have vowed to fight funding for the wall. Some Republicans have balked at the amount to build the wall. The Trump administration is anxiously awaiting the adoption of the initial wall funding to showcase progress to their base. But, politics will lead the funding.

This should concern taxpayers in the country.

After all, it is the country’s taxpayers that will be paying for the wall. And, this is where no amount of Donald Trump propaganda will deflect away from this most basic reality.

Donald Trump promised you a “big beautiful wall” and promised you that “México will pay for it.”

Guess what?

Neither is happening.

First of all, the logistics make it unfeasible to build a wall the full length of the México-U.S. border. Most important and poignant of all is that you, the United States taxpayer will pay for the wall.

None of that will stop the political noise rising to a crescendo. Trump is building the wall will be the rallying cry. The Trump surrogates will simply ignore the inconvenient fact that the wall will be a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars because it will remain incomplete, will solve no problems and will be paid for by your tax dollars.

But many will celebrate nonetheless lost in the mist of Donald Trump flatulence.

When reality prevails, many of you are going to wondering, what the hell was I thinking?

Me, I’ll just sit back and let the spectacle continue play out before me.

  1. Blah blah blah. I’ll correct the record for those of you who don’t “habla.” 1.6 out of 44.3 is much more than the, “less than 1%” our esteemed resident alien’s calculations would have you believe. The showcasing of progress has already happened (not that I’d expect you to keep up) in the form of YUGE reductions in illegal immigration (as measured by apprehensions), the upholding (albeit temporary) of the president’s travel ban, rising numbers of immigration agents, challenges against sanctuary cities, and, yes, $1.6 Billion in appropriations request for actual brick, mortar, steel, and fiber optics. And, Mexico is already paying, in the form of reduced employment for people who would have emigrated illegally, and sent monetary remission back to Mexico as a consequence. Just because the Mexican government hasn’t written a check for $1.6 Billion doesn’t mean we aren’t getting our money. It must really be a thorn in your side to see that things are moving forward. Just goes to show how un-American you really have become, sorry to say.
